PREFACE

This book, “Manual Training for the Rural Schools” as its name implies, is a set of woodworking problems especially adapted for the rural schools. It is planned as a textbook to be used by the pupils. The material used in all of the problems is such as may be obtained locally by any teacher in the country schools and the problems are within the capacity of rural school pupils.

It is suggested to those beginning woodwork that they follow closely the directions for reducing a piece of stock to dimensions, observing closely the illustrations of the tool operations referred to.

The problems consist of practical articles which are used in the home and about the farm in performing the various farming operations.
