On this page you can download the Italian Renaissance pattern called "Border corner ornament".
Its name comes from the fact that it can serve as a corner ornament, and can also be easily turned into an elegant ornamental frame border. We have found it in an old book (The house decorator and painter's guide: containing a series of designs for decorating apartments, suited to the various styles of architecture – Author Henry William Arrowsmith; Published 1840) where it was used to create a very nice frame border of classic look. As stated in the book, this corner ornament belonged to the Italian Renaissance style, and you could decorate the walls with the border formed based on it (by making a bas-relief or by painting).

The ornament is intended to decorate right angles and consists of foliage forms. Similar-looking ornaments were used for decoration in Ancient Rome as well, so you won't go wrong if you use it for a project of that theme.
