The coat rack illustrated is easy to construct and can be made by the home craftsman at very low cost.

It can be mounted on a wall or on the back of a door. This project is very interesting for all those who want to be able to manufacture wooden balls of differing sizes on a lathe. As a result you will get a very handy coat rack that you can give to someone as a present or install it in a suitable place in your house or workshop. This plan is based on the coat rack bought in a local store that we have recently seen at our neighbor's place. We have measured all the necessary dimensions and  designed a coat rack that can be made of wood and metal, unlike the original one made of metal and plastic.

Dimensions

This coat rack, when completed, takes up a wall space 180 mm (7 1/16 in) wide by 316 mm (12 7/16 in)  high, and extends out 272,5 mm (10 ¾ in).

All parts except for part 2 (Pipe) are made of wood. Part 2 is made of metal and obtained by bending. We recommend that you create part 2 of metal or alloy that is light and solid, for example aluminum or duralumin. Whatever wood you use though, make sure it is a hardwood in order to provide adequate durability. When assembling, all parts are joined together with glue.  The coat rack can be fixed to the wall in different ways. You can create your own way of hanging or you can go to the nearest hardware store and buy hanging hardware that suits your needs.

All the information you need to build this coat rack is shown in the next drawing.
