Canadian wood council
Canadian beam calculator - This on-line utility provides a convenient reference for spans for Canadian built-up dimension lumber, fully in accord with Part 4 of the National Building Code of Canada and its referenced wood standard CSA O86-09.
Span calculator - This on-line utility provides a convenient reference for spans for common species of Canadian and U.S. dimension lumber, fully in accord with United States building codes and Federal Housing Administration [FHA] requirements.
Dimension calculator - A wood detailing tool to help qualified professional designers estimate and account for dimensional change in new building construction. Wood shrinks when it dries and swells when it becomes wet. This on-line utility constitutes a quick and easy reference tool for calculating wood member dimensional changes due to changes in moisture contents.
Board foot calculator - One board foot is the nominal quantity of lumber derived from a piece of rough green lumber 1 inch thick and 1 foot wide by 1 foot long. The Board Foot Calc calculates lumber quantities in various units of measure based on dimensions and length entered.
Talls walls sizer - This tool is intended to assist in using wood for the design of tall walls in commercial and industrial structures and to provide a step-by-step guide to the design of these walls. The stud tables in this workbook are provided for lumber studs up to 6.1 m (20 ft.) and proprietary engineered wood studs up to 11.9 m (39 ft.). In addition, a detailed design example of manufacturing facility is provided describing structural, thermal and fire consideration for tall walls. This tool is addressing changes in the new edition of the National Building Code of Canada (NBCC 2005) and the CSA O86 Standard.
The Wood Workshop is a free seamless texture editor that specializes in the creation of seamless wood textures. Visit the gallery for examples of textures made with the Wood Workshop, or download it now for free!
Here is a series of "Wood Doctor Approved" calculators to make your lumber and timber related estimating a little easier. The calculators "remember" previous calculations, and generate a running report of entries and subtotals. Please let us know if you find these calculators useful.

Woodworking Calculators and Utilities
Here is a collection of handy woodworking calculators and utilities for tasks such as: computing board feet, sizing drawer fronts, calculating shelf sag, determining the most appropriate woods for projects, and estimating wood shrinkage and moisture content.
- Draw Sizer - Arithmetic Progression - Computes graduated drawer sizes using arithmetic progression. Generates a nifty graphic and a list of drawer heights.
- Draw Sizer - Geometric Progression - Computes graduated drawer sizes using geometric progression. Generates a nifty graphic and a list of drawer heights.
- Draw Sizer - Hambridge Proportioning - Computes graduated drawer sizes using Hambridge proportioning. Generates a nifty graphic and a list of drawer heights.
- Footulator - A simplified version of the Tabulator that only performs board foot calculations. (no materials list generation).
- Moisture Content Calculator - Computes equilibrium moisture content of wood given relative humidity and temperature.
- Sagulator - Calculates shelf sag (deflection) given type of shelf material, shelf load, length, width, and thickness.
- Shrinkulator - A calculator for estimating dimensional changes in wood, either shrinkage or expansion, based on changes in the wood's moisture content.
- Tabulator - A board foot calculator and lumber material list generator. Provides options for resawing, a waste factor, lumber costs, and customization of output results.
- Wood Finish Selector - A screening tool that helps you choose the best clear finish for your woodworking projects. Finishes are ranked based on 14 different properties that you select.
- Wood Picker - A screening tool that allows you to identify woods based on up to 10 different criteria such as weight, hardness, and strength. The easy way to find just the right wood for that special project.
