If you like unusual math art models, in the picture you can see one that originated in TopMod software based on an octahedron.

It was created while we were playing with Topmod software, i.e., we saw its picture on the Internet and tried to model it.  Although its appearance is quite complex, this 3D model is not too difficult to make with the software mentioned. In case you like printing math art 3D models, you can download the stl format of this 3D model which is found among the download links.

Math art 3d model based on octahedron
3D CAD software used for modeling

- Topmod for modeling

- Rhino 3D and T-splines plug-in for conversion to NURBS 3D surfaces

Available NURBS and BREP file formats

Surface 3D model - .igs (Initial Graphics Exchange Specification)

Available polygonal mesh file formats

.obj and .stl

OBJ Mesh - Quads only; Vertices: 8320; Edges: 16752; Faces: 8376; Mesh topology supports multiple subdivisions; 3D model without texture and materials

STL Mesh - 3D printing ready mesh (The 3D model is not hollowed); Triangles only; Vertices: 140221; Edges: 420831; Faces: 280554

The given 3D model is not hollowed, but the mesh quality is good and quite fine, so it should not be seen on the surface of the printed model. If you would like to prepare 3D models for printing yourselves, .igs (NURBS) and .obj (polygonal mesh) file formats are available to help you make .stl models of the needed quality.
