Guiloche interlaced band patterns

Guilloche ornament i.e. guilloche pattern is obtained by intertwining one or more bands / strips. It can be used for band ornaments or borders of various forms. On this page you can download four versions of the guilloche ornament, and within each there is an ornament with two, three or four interwined bands. Between these bands there are round blank spaces that can be additionally decorated with rosettes or some other circular ornaments. The guilloche ornament has been one of the most commonly used patterns in architecture and decorative art throughout history. It was used in the ancient Near East, classical Greece and Rome, the Middle Ages, and you can often see it today as well.
