There is a large number of shapes and sizes of shields that are used in heraldry. In most cases, the shield shapes in heraldry are based on those that the knights in the Middle Ages wore into battle. Different shield shapes often indicate the area or period from which the coat of arms originated. All the shields which can be downloaded here consist only of lines and circles.
