Here we have presented three versions of the oven rack push pull stick, which you can also easily cut by hand using a copy saw if there is no scroll saw or laser cutting machine available.
During baking in the oven, it is sometimes necessary to move the oven rack in or out to check on the food. To avoid burnt fingers during this movement, we recommend that you make an oven rack push pull stick. As you can see, it is a simple flat wooden stick with two hooks (slots) on it, with the front slot used to push the oven rack and the other slot to pull it out. If you like to cook, this stick is a useful tool in the kitchen, and if you like woodworking, this stick is a perfect gift or item for sale at the craft fair.

Its making is very simple:
- Transfer the design from the drawing to the wood stock
- Cut out the design on the band saw, jig saw machine, with copy saw...
- Drill the hole
- Sand the project and round the edges with sandpaper
- Apply the finish of your choice
As you can see, to make an oven rack push pull stick is not difficult at all, and if you have some time to spare, we recommend that you design this kitchen utensil yourself. This process is not difficult, don’t worry! Choose the stock in the right thickness, which depends on the space between the oven rack wires (probably between 10 and 12 mm will suit almost every oven). Measure the diameter of the oven rack wire (not the cross wires, but the wire that goes around the circumference) and determine the width of the slots. The wire thickness will probably be around 5 mm, so a slot width of 8 – 12 mm will certainly fit. Determine the length (300 - 450 mm) and width of the stick (35-55 mm). Design some interesting elongated shape, incorporate slots into it, and your design of the push pull stick is done!
If you design an oven rack stick yourself, we recommend that you choose a more attractive design than ours. Namely, the oven rack stick is generally not used too often, but if you use it, it should always be somewhere near the oven at your fingertips, i.e., best hung in a visible place. Because of this, it should also serve as a decoration in the kitchen, and the more time you dedicate to its design, the more satisfied you will be. If you have no idea, use our design, change it a bit or search the Internet where you can find a lot of interesting solutions that you can use for your oven rack stick.
It should be noted that this is an ideal project to enable you to make gifts for the people you like or appreciate, as well as an ideal project for those who make simple wood products and sell them at various fairs and the like.
