In this free woodworking plan we present a rustic stool which is not only very pleasing in design, but is extremely useful.

One of the commonest project for the hobby woodworker is to make a stool. A wooden stool is a convenient piece of furniture because it takes up so little space and can so easily be pushed out of the way when not in use.

A weekend in the workshop is all that's needed to complete this project. As with any woodworking project, look over the plans carefully before you begin so you fully understand how it all goes together and to check that you have enough materials to complete the project. All the information you need to build this rustic stool is shown in the drawings. This project may easily be changed in construction or dimensions to suit some individual need.

Whatever wood you use though, make sure it is a hardwood in order to provide adequate strength. Cut all pieces to their finished size and shape. Sand the parts smooth and round all the corners and edges. Temporally assemble all of the pieces. Check that everything fits correctly. Final finish is a matter of personal choice.

If you like to paint, you can cover this stool in some vivid color and draw some flowers, animals or other motives on its surface. Be creative, free your imagination, and as a result, you will have an original artifact in your home.
