Here you can download a plan for making a simple wooden 3D puzzle, a perfect game for both children and adults.
In the image above you can see what the puzzle looks like, and in the images below there are drawings to help you create the parts. The puzzle consists of only two different parts (Part 1 and Part 2).
OUR SOLUTION - 7 pieces of part 1 and 5 pieces of part 2:
Part 1 should be made in 7 pieces and part 2 in 5 pieces.
Both parts can be visually divided into unit cubes measuring 19 x 19 x 19mm. Part 1 consists of 11 unit cubes and part two of 7 unit cubes. If you look at the assembled cube in our picture of the puzzle, you will see that it consists of 5 x 5 x 5 = 125 unit cubes.
7 pieces of part 1 has 7 * 11 = 77 unit cubes
5 pieces of part 2 has 5 * 7 = 35 unit cubes
making a total of 77 + 35 = 112 unit cubes
From this it can be concluded that if you want to put together (our solution) a cube measuring 5 x 5 x 5 unit cubes, within the puzzle there will be an empty space measuring 125-112 = 13 unit cubes. If you like challenges try to find another solution (if exist) or create more pieces and try to assemble a puzzle of larger size (6 x 6 x 6, 7 x 7 x 7 ...).
Parts 1 and 2 can be made of different types of wood to create contrasting appearance.
