Here you can download two precisely drawn 3D models of Gothic window tracery that can serve you for a variety of medieval-themed projects.

We have drawn them in Rhinoceros 3D CAD software based on an explanation in an old book on Gothic architecture. First we drew 2D patterns, (Gothic tracery window pattern, Cinquefoil Gothic tracery window pattern) and since drawing Gothic tracery patterns is very interesting, we then decided to create 3D models as well. It is not difficult to draw 3D models like this if you at least have basic understanding of geometric drawing. When it comes to drawing ideas, be reminded that in old books you can find pictures of extremely beautiful Gothic windows that will surely inspire you.

Rhino 3D

Available NURBS and BREP file formats

- .stp (Standardized 3D graphic exchange file format) - Solid 3D model

- .3dm (Rhinoceros 3D software native file format) - Surface 3D model

The basic sketches, on which the 3D models were formed, were drawn according to the proper procedure for drawing Gothic tracery, so that both the sketches and the 3D models consist only of lines and circles. If you dislike geometry, you may also draw some segments using curves, but then your 3D model won’t fit the authentic rules of Gothic tracery design.

Both 3D models are only available as NURBS 3D models, but if you use polygonal mesh 3D graphics software, we recommend that you download the 2D patterns and draw the Gothic window tracery you want, or convert these NURBS 3D models into polygonal mesh models.
