This category of our site contains free plans for making various garden furniture and accessories.

Garden furniture, also called patio furniture, is found not only in gardens but also in backyards, on porches, at the poolsides ... The function of a garden is to serve for the purpose of both active and passive rest. This means that people who have a beautiful garden should not only enjoy sitting back in it but also enjoy nurturing it. Either way, to be able to enjoy your precious garden to the fullest, its furniture and accessories must be not only functional but also of a design that will fit your garden space. Garden furniture can have a variety of purposes: sitting and lying down (seating sets, benches, stools, hammock stand, loungers, chairs, tables, swings, gazebos…), holding flowers  (planters, planter holders, wheelbarrows, pot stands, pergolas, arbors..), decorative  (sundials, bridges, fountains), food preparation (barbecues, etc.)...

In our Garden Category we will be publishing plans for garden furniture made from various materials, usually wood, metal and concrete. Both wood and metal are subject to environmental influences; be especially careful when choosing the wood type to be used, and also take into account the type of finish to protect the structure. It is popular, particularly in some richer countries of the world, to make garden furniture from various tropical wood species. In order to provide customers with a clear conscience, these species are labeled as having been grown on plantations. Avoid buying wood and garden furniture from tropical species - even if it was true that they originated from plantations, the fact is that any plantation can only be raised if a tropical forest is cut down first. Besides, just an insignificant sum of the money goes to the logger (who is working just to survive), while the main share definitely ends up in the hands of different resellers.

Garden furniture should be cleaned at the end of each season and put away in a dry place. Recommended cleaning process of garden furniture is as follows:

  1. Thoroughly clean of dirt all the surfaces with a dry cloth.
  2. Mix the detergent with water and thoroughly wash all the surfaces and rinse with clean water. Wipe clean with a cloth and let it dry.
  3. Check for damage or cracks. All damages should be removed with sandpaper until the surface becomes smooth again.Cracks should be filled with a wood filler suitable for outdoor use.
  4. If necessary, apply protective coatings.
  5. Dispose of garden furniture in a closed, dry place (garage, basement, etc.).
