Most dictionaries define furniture as the movable equipment designed for variety of purposes, and articles necessary, useful and desirable for living and working.

The world furniture comes from the French fourniture, meaning equipment. In other European languages, however, the corresponding word (German Möbel, Spanish mueble, Italian mobile, etc.) is derived from the Latin word mobilis, meaning movable, and this term really describes the basic character of the furniture.

The evidence of furniture survives from Neolithic period and its gradual evolution parallels with the progress of human kind, but just in design - its innovative development in functional sense did not change from those earliest days. First furniture piece ever made was probably the stool, a simple seat, prototype of a chair, which had above all practical meaning, but also was used as a ceremonial and ritual object by chiefs, shamans and members of various tribes for many centuries. That stools had the same basic features and fulfilled the same functional requirements as a modern chair today. Except that, there were tables, beds and crest, all curved from a stone, but with a high degree of sophistication and functionality.

From those times, and throughout the history, on many aspect of furniture have influenced certain architecture, fashion and interior design movements. And from a stone as a basic of a living room, bedroom and kitchen furniture, the furniture industry expand use on various materials to make furniture, and the wood furniture became most definitely favorable and most practical furniture in any country and trough many ages.

Furniture can be divided in numerous categories, but the basic one is dividing movable furniture (chairs, stools, beds, tables, etc.) from the built-in furniture (kitchen cabinets, shelves, bookcases, etc.).

Other category can describe the decorational methods used on furniture, like marquetry furniture, woodcarving furniture, inlaying furniture, etc.

Simplest categorization is by its place in our home, so we have a bedroom furniture, living room furniture, kitchen furniture, outdoor furniture, kids furniture, etc.

But, when an ordinary man thinks about the furniture, he will most likely visualize a wooden chair, some kitchen table, cradle or a shelf, and that is what our furniture plans category offers.
