Free woodturning projects
Woodturning is an art form in which people make marvelous objects out of different kinds of wood. Even when tools and the routine in woodturning are the same, each woodworker has its own way of finishing objects, and those objects are never the same, because there are no two same pieces of wood for making these objects. That is why this woodworking hobby was always respected and popular among craftsmen.
Objects made by woodturning can be quite simple, but with a bit of imagination, it is possible to create exquisite, beautiful and detailed pieces, that are truly the work of high art.
Woodturning was invented somewhere in the 13th century BC by Egyptians, as they invented first lathe – the essential tool in making woodturning projects.
From that time until today, this way of woodworking creates different kinds of objects (chess figures, candlesticks, turning stools, even baseball bats…) without which our contemporary everyday life will not be the same.
The process of woodturning can be classified into two methods: the spindle turning in which for example the table, chair and cabinet legs are created, and faceplate turning, in which craftsmen create different kinds of bowls, plates…
In this section of our website, we made woodturning plans with different levels of difficulty, they range from a turning stools plans, that are very simple to do, to the spinning wheel plan, where is a lot of specific woodturning stuff to do, but the plans are drawn to the smallest detail and textually explained, so do not hesitate, just spin that lathe.
