Ancient Greek palmette ornament
This is the 3D model of an Ancient Greek ornament which was placed on the ceiling of the temple of Parthenon. This 3D model is actually a bas relief made by using a 2D pattern which can be downloaded at the following link: Ceiling ornaments from the Parthenon
The ornament consists of a symmetric segment that is distributed around the center of the ornament, i.e. the segment has a reflection symmetry (line symmetry, mirror symmetry) and the ornament has a four-fold rotational symmetry (90 degrees).
The ornament is very simple in shape and represents a fine example of the use of the palmette motif in Ancient Greek art.
