This is the 3D model of an ancient Greek ornament which was placed on the ceiling of the temple of  Parthenon.

This 3D model is actually a bas relief made by using a 2D pattern which can be downloaded at  the following link: Ceiling ornaments from the Parthenon. If make it from wood with a CNC engraving or routing machine, it can be a beautiful decoration on furniture pieces, wall panels, boxes...

Available NURBS and BREP file formats

.stp (Standardized 3D graphic exchange file format)

Available polygonal mesh file formats

.obj and .stl

OBJ Mesh - Quads only; Vertices: 12832; Edges: 23976; Faces: 11200; 3D model without texture and materials

STL Mesh - Only triangles; Vertices: 138786; Edges: 416022; Faces: 277348; Mesh does not have any degenerate faces, non manifold edges, naked edges, duplicate faces...

The ornament consists of a symmetric segment that is distributed around the center of the ornament, i.e. the segment has a reflection symmetry (line symmetry, mirror symmetry) and the ornament has a four-fold rotational symmetry (90 degrees).

The ornament is very simple in shape and represents a fine example of the use of the palmette motif in Ancient Greek art.
