Crossbar for edge gluing

With this plan you can make a Crossbar for edge gluing. A few hours in the workshop are all that's needed to make this useful woodworking clamp. It can be made of almost any kind of wood and perhaps would be a good way for you to use up some of your scrap.

Crossbar for edge gluing plan

A crossbar for edge gluing is a simple clamp which serves to keep panels from bowing during glue-up when clamping pressure is applied. It is of very simple construction and easy to apply. The bord gluing fixture consists of the following parts: strips, spacers and fasteners (standard parts).

Changing the length of the strips allows customization according to different panel widths. If you want to make your crossbar for edge gluing, the cross-sectional dimensions of the strips parts need to be increased for very wide panels. The spacers are glued between the strips, and their thickness should be slightly larger than the screw diameter.

Instead wing nuts you may also use plain nuts, but then you definitely need a wrench to get the job done right with this clamp.
