On this page I will be posting video tutorials showing how to use FreeCAD workbench called Mesh.
The Mesh workbench is used for working with polygonal mesh 3D models (triangular). Such 3D models approximate the shape with a polygonal mesh composed of triangles. Triangular meshes are a very simple way of describing shapes because each of their triangles is described only by the coordinates of the vertices and the normal that defines which side the material is.
This workbench is not for 3D modeling like the Blender, 3D Studio Max... software, but only for processing (simplifying, cleaning, repairing, cutting, merging,...) of triangular meshes.
Triangular meshes are mainly used to exchange CAD data and are most often used in areas such as rapid prototyping, 3D printing, CNC machining...
