The scroll saw pattern in the picture comes from an old magazine, and since the caption below it read ‘Brass Door Plate’, we named it that way.

The old magazine was called The studio and it covered art topics. In addition to the "Brass door plate". Also, the name of Walter F. Cave was there, which presumably was the name of its author. As you can see for yourself, this is a horizontal rectangular scroll saw pattern with the main motif of a medieval knight tournament. On the pattern, there are two knights in armor on horseback with their spears pointed, a castle in the background, knight shields, an audience…

We have drawn the pattern precisely using 2D CAD software and painted it black and white. The pattern is not complicated, so it is also intended for manual cutting with scroll saw technique; if you have a laser cutter, however, the cutting process will be incomparably faster, but it will probably deprive you of taking pleasure in the very cutting process. You can insert the pattern in a border, you can print some text below or above it, or you can even slightly deform it to place it in a rectangle of similar/different dimensions. If you need to decorate a rectangular surface that has a rather different side ratio than it is the case with the pattern, one of the solutions is to cut the pattern a little on both sides. Basically, if you are a fan of the scroll saw technique and you love history and the Middle Ages, we are sure that you will be happy to find the right application for this pattern, e.g., decorate a panel with it.
