Fence post driver plan

If you have a farm or a house in the countryside it is very likely that you will have to put up a fence or two. These are mostly simple fences consisting of posts and strings which serve to prevent the visit of wild animals or to limit the space to domestic animals.

There are ready-made and self-made fencing options that include metal or wooden posts. Since the fence can be very long, you will need to set up a large number of posts in the ground. One solution is to successively dig a hole, set and level the post, and compact the soil back into the hole. Another solution is to hit the wooden posts into the ground with a heavy mallet. The first solution is strenuous and time-consuming, and for the second you will need a ladder, the use of which can be dangerous on soft, uneven or sloped terrain. For these reasons, we recommend that you make a fence post driver based on our plan.

You do not have to keep strictly to the dimensions given. The dimensions of your fence post driver need to be customized to the pipes available and the post size. The fence post driver needs to be heavy enough to help the posts be tamped into the ground,  but it also must be light enough to enable one or two people to work long periods of time.

The construction is very simple and consists of a pipe that has a diameter large enough to contain the post and pipes of smaller diameter from which the handles are shaped. All the pipes are welded to each other.
