This is a plan for the making of a very simple wall shelf that you can make easily and quickly, even in a poorly-equipped workshop.

It consists of a back board to which a shelf is adhered. There are two versions of the wall sshelf at your disposal, the one where the shelf is attached to the top of the back board and the other where it is attached a bit lower and whose back board has a decorative lath glued on top. In both cases, the connection between the shelf and the back board is achieved by a dado & rabbet joint.

This design, when completed, takes up a wall space 500mm (20in) wide by 159mm (6 1/4in) high, and extends out 149,5mm (5 7/8). The length, height, width and number of hooks can be changed to suit the purpose for which the wall stand is intended.

Due to its simple vintage design, this wall shelf will fit in almost any interior. Underneath the shelf you can mount hooks for hanging e.g. coats, keys, mugs and the like. Screws are not needed at all (except for the mounting of hooks ), as this wall shelf is assembled by gluing.

The documentation contains the drawings of all parts, and the assembly method is given in exploded view. The shelf is mounted on the wall with the help of plastic anchors and screws.

Use this wall shelf in the kitchen, bathroom or anywhere else in the house.

The coat hooks for this woodworking project can be bought or made. On page Coat hooks drawings you can find drawings that will help you create them on your own, in case the coat hooks in our plan are not to your liking.

Both versions of the wall shelf can be made from any of the furniture woods. The kind of wood used will determine the color of the stain for the finish. This also depends on matching other pieces of furniture.
