This category is intended for 3D models of polyhedra. A polyhedron is a solid bounded by four or more polygons (also called faces) whose edges are line segments.
A polygon is a plane figure that consists of three or more straight line segments. In other words, the polyhedron is a three-dimensional body consisting of flat faces, straight edges and vertices. The word polyhedron is formed as a compound of the Greek words poly- (“many”) and -edron (“base or seat”).
There is a large number of polyhedra and their families; here we will publish 3D models of polyhedra which are either frequently encountered or are of very interesting shape. All the polyhedra that you can download here are drawn with Rhinoceros software and a plug-in called Polyhedron. 3D models of polyhedra will be available for download only as NURBS 3D models. There will always be available a surface model in .3dm format (Rhino 3D native file format) and a solid model in .stp (STEP) file format.
