On this page you can download a detailed and high-quality drawn 3D model of a red deer.

We found it on the Internet, so it wasn’t us who did the 3D model. We wanted to examine the possibilities of some 3D CAD software, i.e., to check the quality of the transformation of a complex polygonal mesh model into a NURBS 3D model. Due to its detailed looks, this 3D model of a red deer has proven itself as suitable, and the result is offered here to you for download.

Red dear 3d model
3D model category
3D CAD software used for modeling

Blender

Available NURBS and BREP file formats

.stp (Standardized 3D graphic exchange file format) - Solid 3D model

Available polygonal mesh file formats

.obj and .stl

Geometry:

OBJ - Mesh - Quads only; Vertices: 3216; Edges: 6428; Faces: 3214; Mesh topology supports multiple subdivisions; 3D model without texture and materials

STL - 3D printer ready (The 3D model is NOT hollowed); Mesh - Triangles only;  Vertices:37483;  Edges:112443;  Faces:74962

As you can see, the file of the 3D deer model represented over mathematical surfaces (NURBS) is almost 10 times larger than the polygonal mesh model file. It should be noted that the drawing of such a detailed 3D model using NURBS surfaces is very difficult and slow in relation to drawing with polygonal mesh.

This is a derivative work. Original 3D model: Red dear 3d model created in Blender
