Design for a music rest for a grand piano pattern (Messrs - Collard and Collard) originate from the book "Modern British domestic architecture and decoration" by Charles Holme, published in 1901.

The pattern originally served as a decoration for the music rest for a grand piano. On old pianos, music rests were often decorated with patterns cut in scroll saw technique. As you can see in the picture, it is a horizontal rectangular pattern that can be applied in various ways, and it is up to you to get the inspiration on how to use it.

This vector design is available as usually in Autodesk (dwg) format, Encapsulated PostScript (eps) format and Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) format.

The pattern is symmetrical, and it depicts a tree with leaves and fruits and silhouettes of birds sitting on its branches. It has a lot of thin elements, which makes manual cutting difficult for beginners. This should not be surprising, because pianos used to be made by excellent craftsmen with great experience. Fortunately, today there are CNC machines (laser cutter, CNC routers...) to help you to quickly cut this pattern in wood or some other material.
