This collection contains parametrically generated examples of all 17 wallpaper groups, and to make the differences between them more obvious, they were all generated using the same design element.

In mathematics, the term ‘wallpaper groups’ means the classification of two-dimensional repetitive patterns based on symmetry. There are 17 possible wallpaper groups, and here you can download examples of all of them. Each wallpaper group was drawn with the cell structure, and next to each there is an appropriate tag?

Unlike the usual pages published in our Free Patterns category, where drawn patterns are made available to you, this page is of a more informative and educational character. Our idea was just to show you that there is a mathematical classification of patterns based on symmetry. There is no need for us here to go into this matter in more detail, because if you are really interested in the subject of wallpaper groups, you can easily find a great deal of diverse information on the Internet. The pattern classification of wallpaper groups is mostly known among mathematicians, designers and architects; most other people encounter it, but don’t consciously know that it exists. Patterns that can be classified using wallpapers groups are most often found in architecture, industrial art, decorative art (e.g., on tiles, textiles, wallpapers, etc.).
