Here you can download a 2D pattern that looks like tree roots, which is why we named it the Roots Pattern.

The pattern was generated using an algorithm, and it is an example of a type of fractal that, when grown, resembles dendritic forms. The pattern is large and circular in shape; if you need a smaller one, you can trim it to the desired dimensions and shape in any CAD or vector software. Otherwise, this whole pattern is in the 2D plane and composed only of lines.

We have no idea how you could use this root pattern, but we hope that some creative artist, designer, or architect will get inspired and use it in the best possible way. The pattern was not hand-drawn but generated by an algorithm in the software, i.e., it represents an example of generative design that has been very popular in recent years. We will not explain here how the pattern came about, and we recommend everyone who is interested to explore the terms ‘diffusion-limited aggregation’ or ‘diffusion-limited growth’.
