Here you can download a simple 3D model of wooden decoration from the door of a cabinet, which we have named ‘3D scroll ornamental design element’.

The 3D model was created while learning how to use Rhino 3D modeling software. In the absence of an idea of what to draw, our interest was attracted by this decoration on a wooden cabinet right next to our desk.

Available NURBS and BREP file formats

Solid models - .stp (standardized 3D graphic exchange file format) and .3dm (Rhinoceros 3D surface model)

Available polygonal mesh file formats

.stl ( "stereolithography" - Standard Triangle Language)

Geometry: Mesh - only triangles; Vertices:17448; Edges: 52338; Faces: 34892; Mesh does not have any degenerate faces, non manifold edges, naked edges, duplicate faces...

The 3D decoration is crescent-shaped, and at the ends it has decorative elements called volutes. Volutes are spiral (rolled-up) scroll-like design elements characteristic of ancient Greek art (Ionic and Corinthian order). Such 3D decorations have been carved in wood throughout history (today with CNC engraving machines), and you can often find them as decorations on furniture. In the picture you can see what the 3D scroll ornament looks like, and has been drawn in 3D Rhinoceros software using the commands for drawing 3D surfaces.
