The ornament design has been done based on a picture found in an old company's catalog dealing with decorative furniture carvings.

3D furniture decorations can be handmade or machine made. If you need a small number of copies, decorative ornaments for furniture can be made by carving in wood. If you happen to need a large number, by hand carving you can make a master model (template) on the basis of which you will make a large number of decorations with the use of a  multi-spindle copy milling machine. Nowadays, for the making of furniture decorations CNC milling machine are used with which you can quickly create an initial master model (template).

We can often come across plastic 3D furniture decorations that are made by injection molding. The molds (dies) are designed in 3D CAD software based on such 3D models and produced on CNC machines.

This 3D ornament has been modeled in Blender software and then the resulting polygonal mesh model has been converted into a NURBS model with Rhino software. Blender software is completely free and represents a very good substitute for commercial applications such as Autodesk 3ds Max, Maya, ZBrush and the like.

Low poly quad mesh 3D model: 248 vertices, 219 quad polygons; Mesh topology supports multiple subdivisions.
