The 3D models of 12-pointed stars that you can download here are simple decorative elements with which you can decorate 3D models of furniture pieces, buildings, etc.

The basis of both 3D models is the dodecagram or the 12-pointed star, with 6 points/arms being slightly shorter. The two given 3D models are similar in appearance, the only difference being that with one its shorter arms are reaching to the very center of the star (which is not the case with the other, of course).

Such simple decorations are very easy to draw in 3D CAD software. They can serve as simple but beautiful decorations adding to the beauty of furniture pieces, architectural stone ornaments, and the like. You can also use them to fill surfaces, place them in the circle center, arrange them around the circumference of a circle, i.e., make circle borders out of them…

The 12-pointed star in Christianity and Judaism has symbolic value, so this might be another good reason to use or not to use these simple 3D models as decoration.
