Gothic ornament from Notre Dame

On this page you can download the medieval decorative pattern called Gothic ornament from Notre Dame.

We have found it in an old book about ornaments and named it after the inscription beneath the image of the ornament. It has been drawn in 2D CAD software, and painted black and white.

 

 

This ornament is intended to decorate square surfaces and resembles ancient Greek ornaments. It is quite simple, consisting only of closed curves that make it very suitable for practising various techniques, such as stencil, papercut, scroll saw, marquetry and the like.
