Panelled design

Panelled designOn this page you can download the design called Panelled design. We have found it in an old book (Arts and crafts for amateurs, by Fred Miller, published 1901) and named it after the inscription beneath the image of the design. In the book, this pattern is categorized among the patterns intended to decorate leather products  (box covers, book covers...). It is found in the book section called "Bookbinding and Leather Work", and the caption under the picture reads “Panelled work. Design, modelled on sixteenth-century work. To be incised and embosed”. As it can be seen, it is a rectangular design which consists of an interlaced border inside of which there is an ornament. Its appearance gives it a universal use-value in all the fields of applied art. The interlaced border and the central ornament are separated, so you can use them independantly.
