If you need an Arabic geometric pattern for decorating, on this page we have provided one named Faience mosaic from Karatay Madrasa.

The mosaic you can download here is based on an image found in an old German book with the subject of Persian architecture in Asia Minor and Persia. In the book, below the picture, the inscription indicated its location - Karatay Madrasa in Konya, Turkey. Karatay madrasa (Arabic word for an Islamic college) was built in 1251 and was abandoned in the late 19th century. Since 1955 it serves as a museum of glazed tiles mosaics. Browsing images of Karatay madrasa museum on internet you can find this mosaic on the back wall of iwan (eyvan) and see how it looks in reality.

This Arabic geometric pattern is available as usually in Autodesk (dwg), Encapsulated PostScript (eps) and Scalable Vector Graphics (SVG) file format.

The mosaic is, in fact, an interlaced repeating ornament. With it, you can make ornaments of any size by simply copying in the drawing programs. This Faience Mosaic is a very fine example of Islamic decorative art in Asia Minor where many Persians and Persianized Turks escaped from the Mongolian invasion. Although the mosaic looks simple, it is not easy to draw. However, using today's 2D CAD software, has made this job much easier than it was for the then-Islamic artists.
