If you take a closer look at the picture of this complex Islamic ornament, you will see that it consists of 3 ornaments: 
- a circular meander border (Greek fret border),
- a hexagonal interlaced pattern (lattice pattern) with a six-pointed star in its center and 
- a simple ornament composed of foliage forms which is arranged within the ornament 6 times, in a circular manner 


Joined together, these three ornaments have resulted in this masterpiece of Arab applied art. We have found the ornament in an old book “Industrial art: a treasury of ornamental design of all schools and periods, applied to every branch of workmanship” from 1874. Below its picture, the caption read: Arabian art, 16 vek, Panels in carved wood. 


The ornament has been precisely drawn in 2D CAD software and then exported to vector software. Such ornaments are better to draw in 2D CAD software because they are far more accurate than vector and adjusted to drawing geometric shapes rather than artistic designs. If you take a look at this Islamic ornament, you will see that it consists of regular geometric shapes drawn with lines, circles and curves. Ornaments like this are much closer to geometric drawing than to artistic drawing.
