On this page you can download 3 plans that can help you make wooden collapsible stools with storage compartment.

This free woodworking project is an excellent choice for the beginner. All three stool versions have a storage compartment and, if necessary, can be easily disassembled and stored away somewhere so they won’t stand in your way. Any of the stools can be made from 10mm thick plywood (or solid wood).

Dimensions

Seat: 381mm (15'') x 381mm (15''); Height: Stool with big and medium compartment 400mm (15 3/4), Stool with slanted compartment 397mm (15 5/8'')

The first and second versions are very similar, the only difference lies in the volume of the storage compartment. ( In version 1, the slot is located in the middle of the side part, In version 2, the storage capacity is increased by moving the slot to the ground). Version 3 is very similar to the two previous ones, but since its part sides are slanted there is no need for slots - the bottom part simply leans on the slanted leg parts. The slot in the top of the leg parts is to serve as a hand hold, enabling one to move it from place to place with the use of one hand.

In order to avoid a seat that is hard and uncomfortable, we recommend you soften it up with upholstery. Use a solid fabric in a beautiful pattern to match your interiors.

You can make your collapsible stool a real accent furniture piece, and there is a variety of ways to do so - decorate it either by painting its leg parts and/or the seat (if not upholstered) or by cutting some scroll saw patterns on the legs.

Similarly, you can also make other types of furniture such as tables, taborets, stands ...

All of these pieces have a simple layout and design and can be made very quickly using basic carpentry power tools.

All the information you need to build these stools is shown in the drawings. These practical stools may be made in various sizes to suit some individual need.
